Three Alimak elevators with 6,000 kg capacity gives access to the hull columns

Snorre B semi-submersible, Offshore elevator, North Sea

Three Alimak elevators are installed in the hull columns of the Snorre B semi-submersible. The twin-masted offshore elevators have a capacity of 6,000 kg and are the biggest elevators that Alimak Hek has ever supplied to the offshore industry.

When the elevators are used in normal operation, the capacity will be restricted to 1,500 kg at a speed of 0.65 m/s. By downrating the speed to 0.3 m/second the necessary 6,000 kg capacity can be achieved to transport pumps up the leg for overhaul. The elevators are provided with variable frequency drive (FC). The lifting height of the elevators is 40 m and there are four landings into the stairway.
